Loraine James<\/a> is releasing a new album. Out May 8 on Hyperdub<\/a>, Detached From The Rest Of You<\/em> features Alan Sparhawk<\/a>, Tirzah<\/a>, Anysia Kym<\/a>, and Miho Hatori<\/a>, among others. Today, she also shared the song \u201cIn A Rut\u201d with vocalist Sydney Spann; you can listen to that below.<\/p>\n Detached From The Rest Of You<\/em> marks James\u2019 first LP under her own name since 2023\u2019s Gentle Confrontation<\/em><\/a>. In press materials, the British artist describes the record (lightly facetiously) as her \u201cIDM pop star album,\u201d sharing: \u201cI’m using my voice a lot more, and putting it higher in the mix than I usually would. I guess I’m growing some confidence.\u201d<\/p>\n In 2025, James also released a second record under her ambient-focused alias Whatever The Weather<\/a>, Whatever The Weather II<\/em><\/a>. The debut, self-titled Whatever The Weather<\/em><\/a> came out in 2022.
