Instead, Mayer said it made him feel more solitary. So, to bring the community together, the singer-guitarist is launching a Grateful Dead Listening Party.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\t\u201cIn the days after we lost Bobby Weir, I tried listening to Grateful Dead music as a way to be soothed. I found it harder than I\u2019d thought,\u201d he wrote on Instagram on Thursday. \u201cI felt as if I was listening alone, like the mainframe that connects all who listen at any given time had gone offline. (It turns out that a presence like Bobby\u2019s makes for an immeasurable absence.)\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tBut the singer-guitarist who joined Dead &amp; Company in 2015 was not alone. \u201cAfter talking with friends who felt the same, I knew I wanted to start Grateful Dead Listening Party,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-instagram wp-block-embed-instagram\"\/>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tThe listening party will take place on Sunday nights at 9 p.m. ET via his \u201cLIFE with John Mayer\u201d Sirius XM channel, where he\u2019ll play two hours of his favorite Grateful Dead and Dead &amp; Company recordings \u201cwhile also talking a little about each one,\u201d he wrote. \u201cIt\u2019s a way for those who have felt lost to \u2018meet up\u2019 and listen to the music together. It\u2019s not live, but I\u2019ll be tuning in. Recalling playing next to Weir, Mayer said, \u201cIt changed over the years, because we both got to know each other and trust each other. And I also became more comfortable with the music.\u201d He added that from around 2023 on, he felt he could read Weir\u2019s signals, \u201cI just knew the way his head moved \u2014 we all do \u2014 and had an understanding of what his instincts were night after night.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\t\u201cWe were aligned.
