The lyrics to her new song &#8220;Dry Spell&#8221; describe a woman in need of loving, and she&#8217;s not talking about the forever kind.<\/p>\n<p>To be blunt, Musgraves\u00a0sings about going 335 days without sex, but her lyrics are so much more creative.\u00a0Josh Osborne, Luke Laird and Shane McAnally helped her pen &#8220;Dry Spell,&#8221; the first sampling of a <a href=\"https:\/\/tasteofcountry.com\/kacey-musgraves-duet\/\">new album expected in 2026<\/a>.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Musgraves New <em>Middle of Nowhere<\/em> album will be her\u00a0sixth non-holiday studio album.<\/li>\n<li>The new project will feature a duet with <a href=\"https:\/\/tasteofcountry.com\/tags\/miranda-lambert\/\">Miranda Lambert <\/a>called &#8220;Horses and Divorces.&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>Her last album <em>Deeper Well<\/em> won a Grammy for Best Country Album.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em><strong>Related<\/strong><\/em>: <a href=\"https:\/\/tasteofcountry.com\/naughty-country-songs\/\">11 More Naughty Country Songs With Pearl-Clutching Lyrics<\/a><\/p>\n<p>A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=NlohfwTunwU\" target=\"_blank\">&#8220;Dry Spell&#8221; music video<\/a> accompanies this new\u00a0track and it&#8217;s equally suggestive. We just never knew there were so many sexual things at the supermarket! It all suggests a change of tone for Musgraves, one of country music&#8217;s most dynamic songwriters.<\/p>\n<h3>Kacey Musgraves&#8217; New Album Details<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/2026\/03\/11\/nx-s1-5744621\/kacey-musgraves-middle-of-nowhere-dry-spell-interview\" target=\"_blank\">Talking to NPR<\/a>,\u00a0Musgraves shared that this song was inspired by the longest period of being single that she\u2019d ever experienced.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI started really loving my singledom,\u201d she says.<\/p>\n<p>Signature songs from previous albums have been thoughtful (\u201cThe Architect\u201d) or doting (\u201cButterflies,\u201d \u201cGolden Hour\u201d) but this one strikes a tone her most loyal fans will recognize.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I was craving humor again,\u201d she shares. That was a big part of earlier albums, and then I maybe purposefully steered away from that, just so I didn&#8217;t paint myself into some sort of bumper sticker lane. And then life happens.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Writer Cole Schafer was Musgraves most recent boyfriend, but they broke up some time ago. Before that she was married to Ruston Kelly until 2020.
