Paul Simon<\/a> was one of the guests on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert<\/em> last night, April 2. Simon sang \u201cSomething So Right\u201d from his 1973 album There Goes Rhymin\u2019 Simon<\/em> and sat down for an interview with Colbert, where he told the story of discovering that \u201cThe Sound of Silence\u201d had become his first U.S. chart hit while on tour in Europe.<\/p>\n Later, asked by Colbert to to name an American lyricist he admired, Simon answered: \u201cIn the 50s, Chuck Berry wrote things that were so good they could\u2019ve been part of the Harlem Renaissance, and he taught my whole generation. They\u2019re all influenced by Chuck Berry\u2014Bob and the Beatles and everybody\u2014cause he made stories in words that flowed effortlessly. He\u2019s set to stay on the road throughout 2026, playing shows across Europe<\/a> this month and next before returning stateside<\/a> in June.
