\n\tPepsi, the main sponsor for London\u2019s Wireless<\/a> Festival for a decade, announced Sunday it was pulling its support for the fest amid Wireless\u2019 three-night booking<\/a> of Kanye West<\/a>.<\/p>\n \n\tThe soda company\u2019s decision comes hours after British Prime Minister Keir Starmer<\/a> issued a statement criticizing Wireless organizers for enlisting West to headline three nights at the festival, the rapper\u2019s first U.K.<\/a> shows in 11 years.<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cIt is deeply concerning that\u00a0Kanye West has been booked to perform at Wireless despite his previous antisemitic remarks and celebration of Nazism,\u201d Starmer said.<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cAntisemitism in any form is abhorrent and must be confronted clearly and firmly wherever it appears. Everyone has a responsibility to ensure Britain is a place where Jewish people feel safe and secure.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tStarmer\u2019s statement echoed those of London Mayor Sadiq Khan, who said in a statement to Rolling Stone<\/em><\/a>, \u201cWe are clear that the past comments and actions of this artist are offensive and wrong, and are simply not reflective of London\u2019s values. This was a decision taken by the festival organizers and not one that City Hall is involved in.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tPepsi, who had sponsored the festival \u2014 officially known as \u201cPepsi MAX Presents Wireless\u201d \u2014 since 2015, announced hours after Starmer\u2019s opposition, \u201cPepsi has decided to withdraw its sponsorship of\u00a0Wireless festival,\u201d the Guardian reports<\/a>. Organizers have not yet commented on West\u2019s enlistment or Pepsi\u2019s departure.<\/p>\n
