\n\tCharli XCX<\/a>\u2019s team has weighed in after Sky Ferreira<\/a> seemed to suggest several of her old demos were used on Charli\u2019s Wuthering Heights<\/a> <\/em>soundtrack album<\/a> without proper credit.<\/p>\n \n\tFerreira is credited as a writer and vocalist on one album cut, \u201cEyes of the World,\u201d but an exchange with a fan account on social media appeared to indicate that she made additional contributions that weren\u2019t officially acknowledged. In a statement shared with Billboard<\/a><\/em>, Charli\u2019s team countered, insisting that proper accreditation procedures were followed and \u201call credits were finalized and formally approved by the appropriate parties prior to the album\u2019s release.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tThe whole thing spiraled out from an X post by the Charli\/Ferreira fan account @skyferrori, which has a sizable following (and is apparently well-known enough to warrant an easter egg mention in Charli\u2019s \u201c360\u201d video<\/a>). Their quip about how Ferreira \u2014 who infamously hasn\u2019t<\/a> released an album<\/a> since her 2013 debut<\/a> \u2014 makes an income, prompted a response from Ferreira on Instagram<\/a>, who said, \u201cI toured for years. I work. I hate to break it to you, but your favorite artist records my old songs. I hope that answers your question.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n \n\tThe fan account then claimed to contact an \u201cindustry insider\u201d about Ferreira\u2019s alleged extra work on Wuthering Heights<\/em>. They posted a screen grab<\/a> of an alleged exchange with this anonymous \u201cindustry insider,\u201d who said the \u201cChains of Love\u201d<\/a> intro was \u201cripped from\u201d an old Ferreira demo called \u201cAncient Idols,\u201d and that the Wuthering Heights <\/em>track \u201cAlters\u201d was based on another Ferreira demo from 2015. (The original X post containing the screen grab of this alleged exchange has since been deleted.)\u00a0<\/p>\n \n\tBack on Instagram, Ferreira said the \u201cinsider\u201d was \u201cwrong,\u201d though with the caveat, \u201cClose but wrong.\u201d She declined to expand further, however, saying only, \u201cIt was definitely more than an intro. I have proof of everything with dates. It isn\u2019t worth the trouble bc I know how the world works.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
