Isaiah Rashad<\/a> is making his long-awaited return next month with his first album in five years.<\/p>\n The Tennessee native has announced his new album It\u2019s Been Awful<\/em>, which will be released on May 1 via Top Dawg Entertainment and Warner Records.<\/p>\n Along with a cinematic trailer for the project, which depicts Rashad limping across a field after a vicious attack, the TDE MC has launched pre-saves for the lead single \u201cSame Sh!t,\u201d<\/a> set to drop soon.<\/p>\n It also appears that Zaywop is plotting an accompanying tour, with his new interactive website<\/a> displaying an It\u2019s Been Awful Tour poster. Fans can also hear a snippet of an unreleased instrumental, presumably from his upcoming album, when they visit the site.<\/p>\n Isaiah Rashad began teasing his new album earlier this week, posting a cryptic card on his Instagram Stories that read: \u201cEverybody wanna see you crash out, fall off, and burn out all for their entertainment. I just wanna see you smile.\u201d<\/p>\n The back of the card featured the phrase \u201cit\u2019s been awful,\u201d which fans now know is the name of his next project.<\/p>\n Fellow TDE artists Doechii<\/a>, ScHoolboy Q<\/a>, SiR<\/a> and others also lent their support to Rashad\u2019s rollout by tweeting out his album title on their respective social media pages.<\/p>\n Zay previously discussed the direction of his third studio album in an interview with VICE<\/em><\/a> last year, naming OutKast<\/a>, Prince<\/a> and Foushe\u00e9<\/a> as inspirations.<\/p>\n \u201cThe biggest inspiration for me was Foushe\u00e9,\u201d he said. \u201cPrince, I\u2019ve been having \u2018If I Was Your Girlfriend\u2019 on repeat for 2-3 months. Then, for this tail-end part of my project, this girl PLUTO from Atlanta. She\u2019s been inspiring me and this other girl BunnaB.\u201d<\/p>\n He added: \u201cI\u2019m touching more [OutKast\u2019s] Stankonia<\/em> and The Love Below<\/em> more than anything else. I would say Top [Dawg] made compromises for the creativity on this one, so I appreciate it.\u201d<\/p>\n The 34-year-old also described the album\u2019s sound as a \u201csultry southern mix mixed with a deep sense of intimacy. Everything from twangy rock and psychedelia to tender intimacy to the kind of trunk-rattling you\u2019d only hear down south,\u201d according to the publication.<\/p>\n It\u2019s Been Awful<\/em> serves as the follow-up to Isaiah Rashad\u2019s 2021 album The House is Burning<\/em>, which itself came after a half-decade hiatus from music following his fan-favorite effort The Sun\u2019s Tirade<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n<\/blockquote>\n
