Bj\u00f6rk<\/a> is throwing a rave to coincide with the total solar eclipse on August 12. Set to take place at V\u00ed\u00f0ista\u00f0at\u00fan sculpture park in Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur, Iceland, the Echolalia<\/a> festival, as its being billed, falls within the path of totality, meaning it will experience complete obfuscation of the sun by the moon for one minute and four seconds. Bj\u00f6rk and Arca are both playing DJ sets. Other performers include Ronja J\u00f3hannsd\u00f3ttir<\/a> and local electronic trio Sideproject<\/a>.<\/p>\n A press release reads: \u201cFor years we\u2019ve been having M\u00e1nakv\u00f6ld ~ dance evenings under a full moon where Bj\u00f6rk invites friends to DJ with her. This time we gather under the total solar eclipse and dance.\u201d<\/p>\n Echolalia will occur alongside Bj\u00f6rk\u2019s exhibition<\/a> of the same name at the National Gallery of Iceland, which runs from May 30 through September 19. There, she\u2019ll show installations inspired by three songs: two from 2022\u2019s Fossora<\/em><\/a> (\u201cSorrowful Soil<\/a>\u201d and \u201cAncestress<\/a>\u201d) and one from an as yet unannounced \u201cforthcoming album.\u201d<\/p>\n In 2024, Bj\u00f6rk staged an AI sound piece<\/a> at Paris\u2019 Pompidou Centre to draw attention to biodiversity loss. Earlier this year, in response to renewed threats of annexation by U.S. President Donald J. Trump, she shared a statement calling for independence<\/a> in Greenland.<\/p>\n
