The track comes off Gorillaz\u2019s most recent album, <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-features\/gorillaz-new-music-grief-ai-art-interview-1235514180\/\">The Mountain<\/a><\/em>, which\u00a0was released Feb. 27 via their own Kong label. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tThe theatrical performance featured Sparks\u2019 singer Russell Mael sharing vocals with Gorillaz\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/damon-albarn\/\" id=\"auto-tag_damon-albarn\" data-tag=\"damon-albarn\">Damon Albarn<\/a>, dressed in a dictator-themed ensemble. The bands were joined by four back-up singers as animated imagery of Gorillaz played on the screen behind them. <\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Gorillaz ft. Smith, legendary drummer Tony Allen, and actor Dennis Hopper.\u00a0\u201cIn the original piece of paper, the original Gorillaz Manifesto written in 1999 by Jamie and I when we were sharing a flat, the character of Russel was able to bring forth the voices of dead musicians,\u201d Albarn explained. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tGorillaz <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/snl-watch-gorillaz-perform-clint-eastwood-moon-cave-mountain-1235526853\/\">recently performed<\/a> on <em>Saturday Night Live<\/em> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/product-recommendations\/tickets\/gorillaz-the-mountain-tour-2026-where-to-buy-tickets-1235528776\/\">will bring<\/a> their <em>The Mountain<\/em>\u00a0tour\u00a0to the U.S. this fall.
