In an interview with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nylon.com\/entertainment\/katseye-coachella-cover-story-interview\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\"><em>Nylon<\/em><\/a> that arrived just two days before the festival kicked off, they dropped teases for their performance. \u201cI think Coachella is going to be a very huge and iconic moment for us,\u201d Lara Raj said. \u201cWe want it to be very grand and this big pivotal moment for us.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tWhen they hit the Sahara Stage at 8 p.m. PT on Friday,<strong> <\/strong>the girl group transformed the set into Katseye City, complete with rooftop dance scenes and buildings named after their song titles. The performance kicked off with \u201cPinky Up,\u201d the single they premiered on the eve of the festival. Like the song\u2019s music video, the performance notably did not feature Manon Bannerman, who remains on hiatus from the group, in any capacity.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tStill, the group held it down as a five-piece as they barreled through hits, from \u201cMean Girls\u201d and \u201cTouch\u201d to \u201cGame Boy,\u201d \u201cInternet Girl,\u201d and \u201cGabriela.\u201d The set continued with \u201cMy Way,\u201d \u201cM.I.A.,\u201d and wrapped up with \u201cGnarly.\u201d Their choreography remained sharp with each musical transition and was elevated by a crew of additional dancers. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tThe set was one of the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-lists\/coachella-most-anticipated-acts-1235542311\/katseye-1235542327\/\"> most anticipated <\/a>of the weekend. While Katseye were in planning mode, the pop world buzzed with speculation and curiosity<strong> <\/strong>about what the performance would bring \u2014 or more specifically, who. In February, Hybe and Geffen Records announced that Manon Bannerman would be <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-features\/manon-katseye-hiatus-black-girl-group-members-1235521562\/\">taking a temporary hiatus from the group<\/a> \u201cto focus on her health and wellbeing,\u201d though her first personal statement regarding the matter assured fans that she is \u201chealthy and taking care of myself.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tA few days before Coachella, Bannerman <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/manon-katseye-hiatus-statement-positive-conversations-1235541311\/\">updated fans<\/a> in another WeVerse message that echoed what she said before. \u201cHxG and I are having positive conversations and I feel supported,\u201d she said. \u201cI\u2019m happy and I\u2019m healthy. I\u2019ll share more soon. Thank you for always being there for me.\u201d On April 9, Hybe confirmed to the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.koreaherald.com\/article\/10713763\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\"><em> Korea Herald<\/em> <\/a>that Bannerman would not appear during the set. \u201cManon remains on hiatus,\u201d the statement read. They also looked to Blackpink, who became the first K-pop girl group to perform at the event in 2019 and the first K-pop group, overall, to headline in 2023.
