The punk legend and festival vet delivered Stooges classics alongside favorite solo songs<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
\n\t\u201cIt\u2019s not easy being alive now \u2026 It\u2019s not easy to be old \u2026 it\u2019s not easy to be young,\u201d Iggy Pop<\/a> said from the Mojave stage at Coachella<\/a> on Sunday. \u201cIt wasn\u2019t easy then,\u201d he added before launching into Iggy and the Stooges\u2019 \u201c1970,\u201d a track marking the time and era it came out.<\/p>\n \n\tThe Godfather of Punk turns 79 on April 21, and though he addressed the passage of time, he was full of vigor onstage, belying his seven-plus decades around the sun. He was also in his natural element: shirtless and commanding the stage while he led the crowd through a greatest-hits set on Sunday from the Mojave tent.<\/p>\n \n\tIt was tailor-made for an audience that was ready for his \u201cRaw Power,\u201d which he also performed alongside other Stooges classics, including opener \u201cT.V. Eye,\u201d \u201cSearch and Destroy,\u201d and the crowd scream-along, \u201cI Wanna Be Your Dog.\u201d Pop bounced around alongside his band, which included a horn section and Yeah Yeah Yeahs\u2019 guitarist Nick Zinner.<\/p>\n
