\n\tNine Inch Nails<\/a>\u2018 collaborations with Boys Noize<\/a> began in 2024 when the German EDM producer remixed Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross\u2019 Challengers <\/em>soundtrack, and it blossomed last year when NIN made a short set of songs with Boys Noize a centerpiece of their Peel It Back tour<\/a>. Now they\u2019re releasing a unique, \u201cpurely electronic\u201d full-length Nine Inch Noize <\/em>album recorded \u201call over the place \u2013 some of it\u2019s live, some in studios, hotels, planes, etc.,\u201d according to Reznor, on Friday. The album is available to pre-save and preorder<\/a> now.<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cThe creative fulfillment of working on the Challengers<\/em> and Tron<\/em> scores with Boys Noize led me to think that including him in the Peel It Back tour could be an interesting way to express NIN in more purely electronic terms live \u2014 a concept I\u2019ve wanted to explore for some time,\u201d Reznor said in a statement. \u201cThe result was so much fun for us we felt it was worth expanding and formalizing in some way.<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cOn a whim, I mentioned it would be cool to play a whole set as\u00a0Nine Inch Noize<\/em>\u00a0in the Sahara tent at Coachella,\u201d he continued. \u201cCareful what you wish for \u2026 the next thing I knew we were designing a whole new show to present in the way it deserved.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tThe track list for Nine Inch Noize <\/em>mirrors the set list from Coachella, where Reznor, Ross, Boys Noize (real name: Alexander Ridha), and Reznor\u2019s How to Destroy Angels<\/a> bandmate (and wife) Mariqueen Maandig performed a selection of Nine Inch Nails songs, an Angels cut, and a cover of Soft Cell\u2019s \u201cMemorabilia.\u201d The cover art features Nine Inch Nails name with \u201cNoize\u201d sprouting off from the last word like a crossword puzzle.<\/p>\n \n\tOther than an encore performance at Coachella\u2019s second weekend on Saturday, the collaboration will not be performing again anytime soon. \u201cThere\u2019s no surprise tour announcement \u2014 this Saturday is it,\u201d Reznor said.\u00a0\u201cI\u2019m taking Sunday off and excited to be working on new Nine Inch Nails music Monday. I\u2019ll see you when I come up for air.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tRolling Stone <\/em>praised the \u201cNine Inch Noize\u201d performance at Coachella this past weekend. \u201cThe entire set was composed of beat-augmented remixes of Nine Inch Nails songs, including a brooding, slow-burn take on fan favorites like \u2018Copy of A\u2019 and back catalog drops including \u2018Me, I\u2019m Not,’\u201d the magazine\u2019s recap<\/a> reported. \u201cOther highlights included \u2018Parasite,\u2019 a song by Reznor and Maandig\u2019s long dormant side project How to Destroy Angels, and \u2018Closer,\u2019 the Nine Inch Nails hit so dirty it might make Sabrina Carpenter blush, here reimagined with slapback synths and super-smack snares.\u201d<\/p>\n
