\n\tAaron Carter<\/a>\u2018s mom is hoping her son will be honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. <\/p>\n

\n\tJane Carter Schneck launched a GoFundMe fundraiser<\/a> on Wednesday \u201cto secure a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame\u201d for Carter, who died in 2022<\/a> at age 34. She is aiming to raise $85,000. Schneck told TMZ<\/em><\/a> that the effort has the support of Carter\u2019s brothers, Nick Carter<\/a> and Angel Carter. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThe funds will cover the creation, installation, and long-term maintenance of the star,\u201d Schneck wrote on the GoFundMe page. \u201cWe are coming together as fans, friends, and supporters to honor Aaron Carter\u2019s legacy. Every donation, no matter the size, brings us one step closer. If you\u2019re unable to give, sharing this campaign means just as much. Let\u2019s come together to celebrate Aaron\u2019s life, his music, and the lasting mark he left on so many hearts.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tA star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame involves a nominations process<\/a> via the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce. Each year, the committee selects 24 to 30 people for inclusion on the Walk of Fame. The criteria includes \u201cprofessional achievement, longevity in the category of five years or more, contributions to the community, and the guarantee that the celebrity will attend the dedication ceremony if selected. Posthumous awards require a two-year waiting period after death.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tThe deadline for this year\u2019s nominations is May 15. Schneck confirmed to TMZ that she plans to submit the application for Carter for that date. The application fee is $275. As of early Thursday morning, Schneck\u2019s GoFundMe had raised $186. <\/p>\n

\n\tCarter died from a drug-linked drowning<\/a>. The singer was found dead in his bathtub by a housekeeper. According to his autopsy report, Carter \u201cbecame\u00a0incapacitated while in the bathtub<\/a>\u00a0due to the effects of inhaling compressed gas and taking alprazolam [Xanax]. This resulted in him becoming submerged under the water, unable to breathe, and ultimately led to his death.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tCarter released his self-titled solo album in 1997 at nine years old and secured a spot opening for his brother Nick\u2019s Backstreet Boys, which made him\u00a0an overnight global sensation<\/a>. His sophomore album, the platinum-selling 2000\u2019s\u00a0Aaron\u2019s Party (Come Get It)<\/em>, featured his biggest hits \u201cI Want Candy\u201d and the LP\u2019s title track.
