The pop punk princess covered Morissette’s hit track for Mile End Kicks<\/em><\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n \n\tAvril Lavigne<\/a> has released a cover of Alanis Morissette<\/a>\u2018s \u201cIronic\u201d as part of the soundtrack for the new rom-com Mile End Kicks<\/em>. <\/p>\n \n\tLavigne mirrors Morissette\u2019s original version, showcasing her grungy vocals \u2014 but this isn\u2019t her first time performing the song. Back in 2005, on the heels of her second record Under My Skin<\/em>, Lavigne got invited to duet the track with Morissette<\/a> at a concert at Los Angeles\u2019 House of Blues. That same night, the duo also sang Lavigne\u2019s \u201cLosing Grip \u201d from her album Let Go.<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cIronic\u201d is one of Morissette\u2019s most well-known and beloved songs and appears on her third album,\u00a0Jagged Little Pill,<\/em>\u00a0released in 1995. In 2018, the album was transformed and adapted into a Broadway jukebox musical, winning two Tony Awards (including Best Book of a Musical) and a Grammy (Best Musical Theater Album). In a 2020 episode of the Rolling Stone Music Now <\/em>podcast, Morissette revealed that she initially didn\u2019t want to include \u201cIronic\u201d<\/a> on the album, but eventually gave in. It became Morissette\u2019s highest charting song on the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at No. 4 (is it ironic?).<\/p>\n
