Beth Orton<\/a> is kicking off the week by announcing her first album in four years and a headlining tour. The Ground Above<\/em> is out June 26 via Partisan<\/a>, and it includes today\u2019s new single \u201cWaiting,\u201d which she describes as \u201ca celebration of moving out of the holding pattern fear keeps us in.\u201d Give that song a listen below.<\/p>\n The Ground Above<\/em> is billed as being split into two halves, with the first part tackling more \u201cfragmented\u201d terrain and the second section exploring more \u201cexpansive\u201d melodies. Orton self-produced the album and roped in a number of collaborators, including Nick Hakim, Tom Skinner, Shahzad Ismaily, and Vernon Spring\u2019s Sam Beste, among others.<\/p>\n This is the ninth album of her career, following 2022\u2019s standout Weather Alive<\/em><\/a>. \u201cWaiting\u201d is the second single Orton has shared from her new album; last month, she rolled out \u201cThe Ground Above<\/a>\u201d along with a detailed statement about the track\u2019s backstory.<\/p>\n As for her headlining tour, Orton will kick things off in Washington, D.C. on September 15 before making her way across the United States and Canada with a dozen shows. From there, she flies back across the pond for a number of gigs in England and Scotland.
