Slayer<\/a> will commemorate the 40th anniversary of their landmark album\u00a0Reign in Blood<\/em> by playing the\u00a0thrash metal masterpiece in its entirety at two special shows later this year.<\/p>\n “The fastest, the heaviest, the most uncompromising record in thrash metal history turns 40,” the band\u00a0proclaimed in a social media post<\/a>.\u00a0“Slayer marks the anniversary with two U.S. headline dates featuring the album performed in full, including their first L.A. show in seven years.”<\/p>\n READ MORE:\u00a0<\/strong>The 20 Best Hard Rock and Metal Albums of 1986<\/a><\/p>\n The first Reign in Blood<\/em>\u00a0show will take place on Sept. 4 at Shakopee, Minnesota’s Mystic Lake Amphitheater. Down<\/a>, Suicidal Tendencies<\/a> and Hatebreed will provide support.<\/p>\n The second full-length\u00a0Reign in Blood<\/em> performance will take place on Nov. 13 (fittingly, Friday the 13th) at Los Angeles’ Kia Forum. Slayer will be supported on that date by Cannibal Corpse, Cavalera (featuring Sepultura’s Max and Igor Cavalera) playing\u00a0Sepultura’s\u00a0Chaos A.D.<\/em> full, and Crowbar.<\/p>\n Tickets go on sale to the general public on Friday. You can find more information at Slayer’s website<\/a>.<\/p>\n Released in October 1986,\u00a0Reign in Blood<\/em> is widely considered one of the greatest\u00a0thrash metal albums of all time.\u00a0Featuring classics such as “Raining Blood” and “Angel of Death,” the\u00a0album cemented Slayer’s place in the “Big 4<\/a>” of thrash (alongside Metallica<\/a>, Megadeth<\/a> and Anthrax<\/a>) and had an incalculable influence on future extreme metal bands.<\/p>\n Slayer’s upcoming\u00a0Reign in Blood<\/em>\u00a0shows are made even more special by the fact that the band\u00a0has only played a handful of concerts over the past three years. They completed their farewell tour<\/a> in 2019\u00a0but returned to the stage<\/a> in 2024 for a pair of festival performances, followed by six\u00a0shows\u00a0in 2025.<\/p>\n The\u00a0Reign in Blood<\/em> shows bring Slayer’s total 2026 show count up to four so far.
