{"id":63361,"date":"2026-04-27T16:44:38","date_gmt":"2026-04-27T16:44:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/musicianvoice.com\/index.php\/2026\/04\/27\/dave-grohl-names-huge-90s-grunge-band-as-his-favorite-band-now\/"},"modified":"2026-04-27T16:44:38","modified_gmt":"2026-04-27T16:44:38","slug":"dave-grohl-names-huge-90s-grunge-band-as-his-favorite-band-now","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/musicianvoice.com\/index.php\/2026\/04\/27\/dave-grohl-names-huge-90s-grunge-band-as-his-favorite-band-now\/","title":{"rendered":"Dave Grohl Names Huge &#8217;90s Grunge Band as His &#8216;Favorite Band Now&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/loudwire.com\/tags\/foo-fighters\/\" target=\"_blank\">Foo Fighters<\/a>&#8216; <a href=\"https:\/\/loudwire.com\/tags\/dave-grohl\" target=\"_blank\">Dave Grohl <\/a>named a huge &#8217;90s grunge band as his &#8220;favorite band now&#8221; and it&#8217;s not <a href=\"https:\/\/loudwire.com\/tags\/nirvana\" target=\"_blank\">Nirvana<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The rocker recently appeared as a guest on Apple Music 1 with Zane Lowe in celebration of Foos&#8217; latest album <em>Your Favorite Toy,\u00a0<\/em>which just came out this past Friday (April 24).<\/p>\n<p>During the conversation, Grohl talked about his time in Nirvana, his admiration for <a href=\"https:\/\/loudwire.com\/tags\/kurt-cobain\" target=\"_blank\">Kurt Cobain<\/a>\u00a0and his songwriting, some of the other great vocalists of the grunge era, which of those groups is his favorite to listen to now and much more.<\/p>\n<p>Grohl shared that many songwriters hope to connect with listeners and to feel understood, the same way fans feel when they listen to the music. He admitted he wasn&#8217;t sure what Cobain&#8217;s intentions were when he wrote Nirvana songs but praised how skilled he was at doing so.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I do know that Kurt was one of the greatest songwriters of all time, hands down,&#8221; he asserted. &#8220;It was inevitable that his songs would be recognized as some of the greatest songs of all time.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>From there, Grohl praised Cobain&#8217;s vocal range and mentioned how he and <a href=\"https:\/\/loudwire.com\/tags\/chris-cornell\" target=\"_blank\">Chris Cornell<\/a> were able to sing very high as well as very low and how they both sang with their heart and soul.<\/p>\n<p>Lowe added <a href=\"https:\/\/loudwire.com\/tags\/layne-staley\" target=\"_blank\">Layne Staley<\/a> to the mix and the Foos frontman became very excited as he spoke about his &#8220;newfound love for <a href=\"https:\/\/loudwire.com\/tags\/alice-in-chains\" target=\"_blank\">Alice In Chains<\/a>&#8221; that he discovered while driving around with his daughters and showing them Alice&#8217;s music.<\/p>\n<p><strong>READ MORE:\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/loudwire.com\/dave-grohl-bumper-sticker-life-guide\/\" target=\"_blank\">The Bumper Sticker Saying Dave Grohl Tries to Live His Life By<\/a><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;They&#8217;re like my favorite band now.
