As with previous box sets, the <em>ReLoad <\/em>collection, out June 26, will come fully loaded (pun intended) with 15 CDs and four DVDs filled with live recordings, rough mixes of songs, and songwriting demos. (The original album will be in there, as well.)<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tThe \u201cBad Seed\u201d to its 1996 predecessor, <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-album-reviews\/metallica-load-remastered-review-1235363163\/\">Load<\/a><\/em>, the album found Metallica continuing their quest to simplify their sound as they moved away from thrash metal to explore hard rock, punk, and blues influences. Highlights from <em>ReLoad<\/em> include the punk-ish \u201cFuel,\u201d which is still a set list staple; an eerie duet with Marianne Faithfull, \u201cThe Memory Remains\u201d; a sequel to the Black Album hit \u201cThe Unforgiven\u201d; and the snaky \u201cCarpe Diem Baby.\u201d <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tAll of it was delivered by musicians with fresh haircuts, as seen in newly released footage of the band performing \u201cThe Memory Remains\u201d in Philadelphia a week before <em>ReLoad<\/em>\u2018s original release.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Metallica: The Memory Remains (Live in Philadelphia, PA - November 11, 1997)\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/DWhgn3iAQGg?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tIn addition to the maxed out box set, the reissue will be available on double-LP vinyl, CD, a three-CD expanded edition, cassette, and digital. People who preorder the box set, though, get four different versions of \u201cThe Memory Remains\u201d: the <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=UT_JpBBQ7T4\">remastered original recording<\/a>, an instrumental mix, a \u201cTake 18 Floor Take,\u201d and a concert recording from Brisbane, Australia.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tThe release\u2019s <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/forums.metallica.com\/t\/jab-another-remaster-in-me-reload-arrives-june-26\/78775\">full track list<\/a> is detailed on the band\u2019s website. Highlights include a 7-inch of \u201cThe Memory Remains,\u201d a live recording from London\u2019s Ministry of Sound, recordings of riffs that the band worked into songs and the demos that followed (the \u201cCarpe Diem Baby\u201d riff weirdly was called \u201cSkimpy\u201d), and a Marianne Faithfull outtake simply called \u201cMemory.\u201d <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tThere are also concert recordings from Reading, England, acoustic jams, concerts recorded in Brisbane and East Rutherford, New Jersey, as well as a collage of live recordings from all over the world. The DVDs boast TV appearances \u2014 including MTV\u2019s <em>Reload, Rehearse, Request<\/em> \u2014 more clips from the aforementioned Philadelphia concert, and shows filmed in Asia and California.
