The musician expanded the album with five previously unreleased songs, including the pop-rock record <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/halsey-debuts-new-song-carry-the-weight-1235371548\/\">\u201cCarry the Weight,\u201d <\/a>which was premiered on the For My Last Trick Tour.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\t\u201cIt was really important to me that you guys got every song I intended for you to hear in the TGI cycle,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/halsey-2\/\" id=\"auto-tag_halsey-2\" data-tag=\"halsey-2\">Halsey<\/a> shared in a statement announcing the release. \u201cHere is the final punctuation on that long sentence.\u201d The deluxe edition adds \u201cLucid,\u201d which was also performed on tour, as well as \u201cLessons,\u201d \u201cNothing,\u201d and \u201cCharades.\u201d It also includes the demo \u201cAfraid of the Dark.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tThe records build on the premise of <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-album-reviews\/halsey-the-great-impersonator-review-1235142764\/\">The Great Impersonator<\/a><\/em>, which was created as a concept album after Halsey was diagnosed with Lupus SLE and a rare T-cell lymphoproliferative disorder. They thought the album might be the last they would ever make and poured their grief, fear, and resilience into it. \u201cCan you see that I\u2019m bleeding on the stage?\u201d she asks on \u201cCharades.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\t<em>The Great Impersonator <\/em>arrived in October 2024 as Halsey\u2019s first release under <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/halsey-signs-with-columbia-records-1234771210\/\">Columbia Records.<\/a> \u201cI\u2019m so grateful to everyone at Columbia Records who played a part in bringing this to life and getting it into the world,\u201d Halsey wrote in their statement. They signed with the label in 2023 after parting ways with Capitol Records. And that\u2019s the hardest part of having been a pop star once, because I\u2019m not one anymore, and I\u2019m being compared to people that I don\u2019t consider lateral to me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tIn a review of <em>The Great Impersonator, Rolling Stone<\/em>\u2018s Rob Sheffield wrote, \u201cThere\u2019s a constant tension between the playful wit in the music and the sluggish gloom of the vocals. But the best moments on The Great Impersonator come when the music wins out.
