Maren Morris<\/a> famously exited country music in 2023, citing what she called a \u201ctoxic\u201d environment and a \u201cspawning ground for bad, politicized takes.\u201d<\/p>\n Three years after stepping away from the genre, Morris appeared in an interview with SiriusXM Hits 1<\/a> to discuss the current wave of success for women in country music.<\/p>\n Morris says, \u201cI mean, yeah, I\u2019m so excited that they\u2019re all crushing it because for a very long time it was pretty sparse \u2014 having women dominate the charts and awards and just, yeah, be paid what they\u2019re worth.\u201d<\/p>\n Morris continued, \u201cIt\u2019s amazing to see that tide turning and them all just having this huge moment right now simultaneously, without competition. That\u2019s all very exciting to me.\u201d<\/p>\n No. Morris remains friends with many country artists and songwriters.<\/p>\n She says of the songwriters behind some of the most popular songs by female country artists, \u201cI think also looking at the songwriters on those records, because I\u2019m friends with a lot of them, I\u2019m super proud that they\u2019re on these big projects.
