The album, due July 10, follows up 2023\u2019s <em>Hackney Diamonds<\/em>, which was a Number Three hit in the U.S. and won the band a Grammy.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tThe lead single, \u201cIn the Stars,\u201d first presents itself as a pop-rock song in the mold of early Eighties Stones. But there\u2019s a unique melody to the chorus, when Jagger sings, \u201cIt\u2019s in the stars, it\u2019s our destiny,\u201d and the backing vocals \u201coooh\u201d around them, with a little added piano that show a new side to the Stones, before they settle back into an instantly recognizable <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/keith-richards\/\" id=\"auto-tag_keith-richards\" data-tag=\"keith-richards\">Keith Richards<\/a> riff. \u201cDo you wanna dance \u2019til the roof caves in?\u201d Jagger sings. \u201cYeah, and the guitars cream and the choir still sings.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"The Rolling Stones - In The Stars (Official Lyric Video)\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/F-F_oHOvBsM?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\t\u201cRough and Twisted,\u201d meanwhile, is a bluesy, foot-stomping rocker, laden with slide guitar, boogie-woogie piano, and saxophone, recalling the Stones\u2019 early Seventies recordings. \u201cWhy don\u2019t you drive me down that rough and twisted road?\u201d Jagger bellows at the beginning, as the band settles into its signature swagger. He also plays harmonica with his inimitable whine on the song.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tThe band recorded the album at West London\u2019s Metropolis Studios. Producer Andrew Watt, who helmed <em>Hackney Diamonds<\/em>, led <em>Foreign Tongues <\/em>as well. In addition to Jagger, Richards, and guitarist <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/ron-wood\/\" id=\"auto-tag_ron-wood\" data-tag=\"ron-wood\">Ron Wood<\/a>, the album features the return of bassist Darryl Jones (who wasn\u2019t available for <em>Diamonds<\/em>), keyboardist Matt Clifford, and drummer Steve Jordan. The album also features an appearance by the late Stones drummer Charlie Watts, which was recorded during one of his last sessions before he died in 2021. Guest artists on the album include Steve Winwood, Paul McCartney, the Cure\u2019s Robert Smith, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers\u2019 Chad Smith.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"The Rolling Stones - Rough And Twisted (Official Audio)\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/FHaEFarmZx8?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\t\u201cI love doing these recording sessions in London at Metropolis,\u201d Jagger said in a statement. \u201cIt was a very intense few weeks recording <em>Foreign Tongues<\/em>. We had 14 great tracks, and we went as fast as we could. I hope everyone loves it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tThe album art features illustrated slices of Richards\u2019, Wood\u2019s, and Jagger\u2019s faces stacked on top of each other as created by Nathaniel Mary Quinn. The album will be available on CD, deluxe CD, cassette, and multiple vinyl edition, as well as digitally.
