The former Dead Kennedys singer has mostly recovered his speech and cognition after the medical incident in March<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n

\n\tJello Biafra<\/a>, former frontman of punk legends the Dead Kennedys<\/a>, has recovered most of his speech and cognition after suffering a stroke <\/a>earlier this year.<\/p>\n

\n\tA statement shared on the musician\u2019s Facebook<\/a> page over the weekend noted that Biafra \u201cis progressing nicely,\u201d adding, \u201cHis speech has mostly come back in full, and cognitively, it\u2019s like the stroke never happened. The left side is still weak but it is doing much better than it was.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tBiafra was rushed to the hospital in early March after suffering a hemorrhagic stroke, which caused the left side of his body to go completely numb. Biafra said the stroke was caused by high blood pressure and occurred as he was trying to get out of bed. At the time of the stroke, Biafra assured fans he was in stable condition, but had a lot of \u201crehabbing to do.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tPer the new note, Biafra is \u201cso much more self sufficient than he was\u201d and will likely return home within the week. The note ended: \u201cThank you again for the outpouring of support. It has meant the world to him.\u201d (The note was written by Anne-Marie Anderson, who works at Biafra\u2019s label, Alternative Tentacles, and appears to have been helping take care of him since the stroke.)<\/p>\n

\n\tBiafra co-founded the Dead Kennedys and fronted the San Francisco punk band from 1978 until their breakup in 1986. While the Dead Kennedys reunited in 2001, Biafra has not been involved with the group since then. Biafra released his last full-length solo album, Tea Party Revenge Porn<\/em>, in 2020 and released a handful of singles in 2024, including a cover of Patrik Fitzgerald\u2019s \u201cPunch.\u201d He also featured on the Tony Slug Experience song, \u201cRoad Goat.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n
