Now that the dance floor is dead<\/a>, Charli XCX<\/a> has her sights set on guitars \u2013 or at least she\u2019s game to kick her high heels<\/a> into them. The pop star has returned with her new song \u201cRock Music,\u201d which features some seriously crunchy guitars but still squarely fits in the pop lineage she\u2019s been building on over the years. It arrives alongside a music video directed by Aidan Zamiri, who also directed the video for her \u201cGuess\u201d remix video with Billie Eilish. Check it out below.<\/p>\n Last month, in a cover story<\/a> with British Vogue<\/em>, Charli XCX confirmed that her proper follow-up to 2024\u2019s Brat<\/em><\/a> is coming soon. She revealed that she\u2019s \u201cmaking rock music\u201d and her upcoming album features more guitars and less Auto-Tune vocals. \u201cWe were doing our version of analogue, which is so silly and funny,\u201d she said. Brat<\/em> producers A.G. Cook and Finn Keane, formerly known as Easyfun, stood in for those recording sessions in Paris.<\/p>\n In February, Charli XCX shared her companion album<\/a> for Emerald Fennell\u2019s film adaptation of Wuthering Heights<\/em><\/a>, which featured guest contributions from John Cale and Sky Ferreira, the latter of whom claimed<\/a> all was not as it seemed.
