Paul McCartney<\/a> just released his first-ever duet with fellow Beatle Ringo Starr<\/a>. \u201cHome to Us\u201d is the latest preview of McCartney\u2019s forthcoming fifth solo album<\/a>, The Boys of Dungeon Lane,<\/em> and also features Chrissie Hynde<\/a> and Sharleen Spiteri on backing vocals. Listen to it below.<\/p>\n \u201cHome to Us\u201d is the only track on The Boys of Dungeon Lane<\/em> that features a guest drummer, and was originally built around a drum track McCartney and producer Andrew Watt asked Starr to record for the album. Starr had initially planned to only sing a line or two, but McCartney upped the ante, asking him to come on for a full duet. \u201cIn writing the song I\u2019m talking about where we came from. In common with a lot of people, you come from nothing and you build yourself up,\u201d McCartney shared in a statement. \u201cRingo was from the Dingle, and that was well hard. He said he used to get mugged coming home, because he worked. Even though it was crazy, it was home to us.\u201d<\/p>\n The song is McCartney and Starr\u2019s first collaboration since 2023\u2019s \u201cNow and Then<\/a>,\u201d a track based around a vocal run from John Lennon<\/a> that was unearthed in 1994. Although the idea of building on the vocal was initially tabled due to poor audio quality, AI technology introduced to McCartney and Starr by director Peter Jackson allowed them to make use of it. It was billed as the \u201cfinal\u201d Beatles song, and arrived alongside a music video<\/a> directed by Jackson.<\/p>\n The Boys of Dungeon Lane<\/em>, which is due out on May 29 on MPL\/Capital, has been framed as an autobiographical survey of McCartney\u2019s childhood in post-war Liverpool. He released a lead single, \u201cDays We Left Behind,\u201d back in March.<\/p>\n
