\n\tDani Rose<\/a> knows a trend when she sees one. The Virginia native and Nashville songwriter built her career partly by staying hyper aware of where the winds in social media, streaming, and television will blow next. Rose, who had a song she co-wrote featured in Friday\u2019s anticipated premiere of Dutton Ranch<\/a><\/em>, says it\u2019s all in the vibes.<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cBefore it wasn\u2019t trendy for female country musicians to rise up,\u201d Rose tells Rolling Stone<\/em>, zeroing in on a dominant current storyline in country music. \u201cNow, it is absolutely a trend. People want to dress like Lainey [Wilson], they want to dress like Ella [Langley], they want to look like Megan Moroney. It\u2019s not just a person singing anymore, they\u2019re like superheroes or action figures.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tRose herself is on an action-figure path in the Taylor Sheridan<\/a> universe. She\u2019s had songs already featured in Sheridan\u2019s Yellowstone<\/a><\/em> and Landman<\/em>, and on the May 15th debut of Dutton Ranch<\/em> on Paramount+, fans heard \u201cWhat You Don\u2019t Know,\u201d a song she co-wrote with Lukas Nelson and Lily Meola. She had a hand in the most musically powerful moment of Landman<\/em>\u2019s previous season, when the heart-wrenching \u201cTouch and Go\u201d \u2014 her collab with Drayton Farley and Sunny Sweeney \u2014 became a viral hit<\/a>. Written at a workshop organized by Andrea von Foerster, the music supervisor for much of Sheridan\u2019s television work, including Landman<\/em>, Yellowstone<\/em>, and Dutton Ranch<\/em>, the song was synced with a gut-punch scene.<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cI remember Drayton saying, \u2018I have this cool title, \u2018Touch and Go,\u2019\u2019 and it reminding me of my parents and being at home and feeling like I\u2019m still a little kid while my parents keep getting older,\u201d Rose says. \u201cIt was so sad and depressing, and we were sitting there crying. I was like, \u2018I wish I could turn back time in my dad\u2019s eyes,\u2019 and Sunny goes, \u2018Yes! There we go!\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tHow Rose first entered Sheridan\u2019s circle, however, was less of a business plan and more of a survival instinct. Before finding social media success and seeing her music stream alongside that of Zach Bryan, Whiskey Myers, and Flatland Cavalry in Yellowstone<\/em>, Rose felt untethered. Her family moved from rural Virginia to Tokyo when she was in fifth grade for her father\u2019s job, causing Rose to grow up fast. \u201cI became a fully functioning adult, I would say, by seventh grade,\u201d she says.<\/p>\n
