Moses Sumney<\/a> is releasing his first movie soundtrack: a collaboration with composer Joseph Shirley on the debut film from director Aleshea Harris, Is God Is<\/em>. The film is in theaters now, and today, Sumney has shared \u201cSins of the Father<\/a>,\u201d a collaboration with the singer-songwriter Kara Jackson<\/a>. Listen to that below, ahead of the soundtrack\u2019s release this Friday, via Lakeshore<\/a>.<\/p>\n Shirley said in a press release that collaborating with Sumney \u201cwas an utterly captivating and life-affirming creative experience for me. His connection to music is so intuitive, mythic yet still very tactile and progressive.\u201d He added that the pair \u201cexplored many genres and moods together,\u201d tapping into the film\u2019s mix of Southern Gothic, Greek tragedy, and modern thriller.<\/p>\n Though this is his first soundtrack, Sumney is no stranger to the screen: He had a role in the ill-starred HBO show The Idol<\/em><\/a> and, in 2024, appeared alongside Halsey in Ti West\u2019s Maxxxine<\/em><\/a>.
