Chuck Auerbach died March 29, just a month before his son and Keys drummer Pat Carney dropped their LP on May 1. In a new interview with <em>Rolling Stone<\/em>\u2019s <em>Nashville Now<\/em> podcast, Auerbach admits that <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-album-reviews\/black-keys-peaches-review-1235549028\/\">Peaches!<\/a><\/em>, despite its ebullient nature, can be hard for him to listen to, especially the track \u201cIt\u2019s a Dream,\u201d originally cut by Charles Fisher Jr.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\t\u201cI feel like he would have loved that song. It was right up his alley. This whole life has been a bit of a dream and he helped put me here. So, that\u2019s kind of hard to listen to, but it\u2019s mostly joyous,\u201d Auerbach says, holding back tears. \u201cHe gave me so much. It was like one last gift.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-instagram wp-block-embed-instagram\"\/>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tAuerbach\u2019s Easy Eye Sound studios in Nashville, where the Black Keys recorded <em>Peaches!<\/em>, is decorated with folk art, antiquities, and assorted vintage signs. One from a Freemasons lodge hangs above the studio floor. Auerbach says it\u2019s all connected to his father.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\t\u201cEverything about what I do is related to my dad, musically and aesthetically. He was an antique dealer, a picker. I knew how to pack a van for tour because I would pack the van for my dad\u2019s antique shows. This shitty old rusty van, with a wooden rack on the top,\u201d he says, recalling how his father would crank music in the van, especially the Allman Brothers\u2019 \u201cRamblin\u2019 Man.\u201d \u201cMy dad listened to music louder than anybody.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tIn this episode of <em>Nashville Now<\/em>, Auerbach talks at length about Gregg Allman \u2014 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/gregg-allman-southern-rock-pioneer-dead-at-69-94904\/\">who died nine years<\/a> ago today \u2014 and his enduring influence not just on the Black Keys but on all of music. Auerbach produced a new live version of the Allmans\u2019 \u201cCome and Go Blues,\u201d performed by Marcus King, for the forthcoming documentary <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/gregg-allman-movie-trailer-music-of-my-soul-1235566351\/\">Gregg Allman: The Music of My Soul<\/a><\/em>.
