{"id":65580,"date":"2026-05-29T14:13:32","date_gmt":"2026-05-29T14:13:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/musicianvoice.com\/index.php\/2026\/05\/29\/bret-michaels-drops-out-of-trumps-freedom-250-concert\/"},"modified":"2026-05-29T14:13:32","modified_gmt":"2026-05-29T14:13:32","slug":"bret-michaels-drops-out-of-trumps-freedom-250-concert","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/musicianvoice.com\/index.php\/2026\/05\/29\/bret-michaels-drops-out-of-trumps-freedom-250-concert\/","title":{"rendered":"Bret Michaels Drops Out of Trump&#8217;s Freedom 250 Concert"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\t<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/poison\/\" id=\"auto-tag_poison\" data-tag=\"poison\">Poison<\/a> frontman <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/bret-michaels\/\" id=\"auto-tag_bret-michaels\" data-tag=\"bret-michaels\">Bret Michaels<\/a> is the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/martina-mcbride-drops-out-trump-freedom-250-concert-1235569756\/\">latest artist<\/a> to drop out of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/national-mall-great-american-state-fair-music-lineup-1235569309\/\">Great American State Fair concert<\/a> in Washington, D.C., saying the type of show he was pitched \u201cevolved into something much more divisive than what I agreed to be a part of.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tIn a statement shared on <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DY6M0UYlRXh\">Instagram<\/a>, Michaels said that the event \u2014 which is part of the Trump administration\u2019s Freedom 250 initiative to mark America\u2019s 250th anniversary \u2014 was described as \u201ca celebration of our country through music and a chance to honor our veterans, active military, first responders, teachers and hardworking Americans from all walks of life.\u201d <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tMichaels did not say what exactly about the direction of the show had changed. But like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/freedom-250-lineup-performers-reaction-chaos-1235569591\/\">other artists who have dropped out<\/a>, he seemed to indicate the supposedly nonpartisan concert had become politicized.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\t\u201cAs many of you know, I\u2019ve spent my entire career bringing people together through music, positivity, and good vibes,\u201d Michaels wrote. \u201cMy shows have never been about politics. But many have already backed out.
