Art Garfunkel<\/a> made a surprise appearance on the Madison Square Garden stage\u00a0Friday night, joining Charlie Puth<\/a> for a performance of “The Boxer.”<\/p>\n “He learned how to make his records from me and Paul [Simon]<\/a>,” Garfunkel said that evening (via Billboard<\/em><\/a>). “You’re my student.”<\/p>\n And Puth heartily agreed: “I am your student. I’m not just saying that because all these wonderful people are here. The reason that I’m here right now is because of the music you’ve written with Paul. I make albums simply because that’s what I do. You try and divorce yourself from the popularity of what you’re doing. If it’s not going to catch on, it’s not my fault. I still have my muse.
