During an interview on\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/sounds\/play\/m002wdzc\">BBC Sounds<\/a> in May, McCartney, 83, was asked if he would give Swift, 36, any advice given her global level of fame.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\t\u201cYou do see the parallel, you know the fame and the amount of fame. The worldwide fame that Taylor Swift has and that we had,\u201d McCartney replied, before adding with a chuckle, \u201cBut I don\u2019t think she needs any advice to tell you the truth.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tWhen pressed on the topic, McCartney said, \u201cIf she asked for it, I definitely would. I\u2019m like the older brother to that generation, or more like the grandad, actually.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tAs two of the most famous pop songwriters in the world, Swift and McCartney have admired each another\u2019s work from afar over the years. In 2020, the pair sat down for<em> Rolling Stone<\/em>\u2018s first ever <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-features\/paul-mccartney-taylor-swift-musicians-on-musicians-1089058\/\">Musicians on Musicians<\/a>. To prepare for the conversation, Swift delved into to\u00a0<em>McCartney III<\/em> and McCartney listened to\u00a0<em>Folkore<\/em>. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\t\u201cI listened to your new record. And I loved a lot of things about it, but it really did feel like kind of a flex to write, produce, and play every instrument on every track,\u201d Swift told McCartney at the time. \u201cTo me, that\u2019s like flexing a muscle and saying, \u2018I can do all this on my own if I have to.&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tIn turn, McCartney said, \u201cWell, I don\u2019t think like that, I must admit. I just picked up some of these instruments over the years. We had a piano at home that my dad played, so I picked around on that.
