\n\tThis October, Kip Moore<\/a> will return to South Africa to perform at a 22,000-seat cricket stadium and do back-to-back nights at a Cape Town arena. The Georgia heartland rocker is a superstar in the country and has a devout fan base elsewhere in Australia, the U.K., and Europe. He admits to scratching his head about why that level of success continues to elude him in the U.S.<\/p>\n

\n\tIn a new interview on Rolling Stone<\/em>\u2019s Nashville Now<\/em> podcast, Moore compares American crowds with those overseas and opens up about the inspiration for his latest album, Reason to Believe<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThe European, U.K. audiences definitely seem to be more lyric-driven, and they sniff out authenticity and what\u2019s inauthentic pretty quick. I\u2019ve seen it,\u201d Moore says, recalling how he\u2019s seen artists who are regarded as stars in the U.S. lose their audiences in real time when they step onstage in Europe. \u201cI have watched popular people in the States, and I\u2019ve seen the crowds hear a couple songs and they\u2019ll file out to the next act.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tBut Moore says that the European country crowds don\u2019t judge the act before they\u2019ve heard the music. That\u2019s not always the case in the U.S., according to the \u201cThe Darkness\u201d singer.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThere\u2019s certain parts of America that, certain regions, where they already have their mind made up before you roll in. Because they\u2019ve been trained by their brothers and their dads: \u2018You\u2019re not supposed to like any of this, it\u2019s from the outside and this and that,\u2019\u201d he says. \u201cYou can feel it when you walk out; it\u2019s a thing of they\u2019re already against you. And you can win them. But those European audiences, they\u2019re locked in and they want to like you. They\u2019ll make their mind up\u2026 and if they\u2019re in, they are truly in.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tMoore also opens up about the impact that songwriter Brett James had on his career and how he\u2019s soldiering on in his memory following James\u2019s death in a plane crash last year.
