Recently, fan accounts and other social media users shared a promotional image depicting the artist alongside candidates Iv\u00e1n Cepeda and Aida Quilcu\u00e9.<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cThe images circulating of me supporting presidential candidates are fake,\u201d the singer shared in a statement, according to Billboard<\/a><\/em>. \u201cI do not support any candidate, nor have I authorized the use of my image in any campaign.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tThe images are the latest attempt to link Shakira to Cepeda, in particular. Earlier this year, unfounded reports claimed the musician and candidate are distantly related. Shakira has not issued any public statements that would sway her Colombian fans in either direction when it comes to casting their vote. \u201cMy commitment is to Colombia, to its democracy and to the right of every Colombian to choose freely,\u201d she said. \u201cMy wish is for these elections to proceed transparently and in a peaceful environment for all Colombians.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tIn the past, Shakira has spoken out about injustices perpetuates at the hands of demoralized governments.
