{"id":66105,"date":"2026-06-06T16:09:33","date_gmt":"2026-06-06T16:09:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/musicianvoice.com\/index.php\/2026\/06\/06\/see-bruce-springsteen-play-with-jon-bon-jovi-at-music-america\/"},"modified":"2026-06-06T16:09:33","modified_gmt":"2026-06-06T16:09:33","slug":"see-bruce-springsteen-play-with-jon-bon-jovi-at-music-america","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/musicianvoice.com\/index.php\/2026\/06\/06\/see-bruce-springsteen-play-with-jon-bon-jovi-at-music-america\/","title":{"rendered":"See Bruce Springsteen Play With Jon Bon Jovi at &#8216;Music America&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\t<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/bruce-springsteen\/\" id=\"auto-tag_bruce-springsteen\" data-tag=\"bruce-springsteen\">Bruce Springsteen<\/a> returned to the OceanFirst Bank Center in Monmouth, New Jersey, on Friday for the second and final night of the \u2018Music America: The Songs that Shaped Us\u2019 concert, a celebration of 250 years of American music, and the opening of the Bruce Springsteen Center for American Music.<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/bruce-springsteen-kenny-chesney-dropkick-murphys-1235573021\/\"> The first evening<\/a> focused on American music pioneers like Robert Johnson, Hank Williams and Woody Guthrie, and this one moved the clock towards latter acts like Elvis Presley, Chuck Berry, Dion DiMucci, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/public-enemy\/\" id=\"auto-tag_public-enemy\" data-tag=\"public-enemy\">Public Enemy<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tDion and Public Enemy were part of the stacked bill, which also included <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/jon-bon-jovi\/\" id=\"auto-tag_jon-bon-jovi\" data-tag=\"jon-bon-jovi\">Jon Bon Jovi<\/a>, Nils Lofgren, Darlene Love, Jackson Browne, Gary Clark Jr., Darlene Love, and Sheryl Crow. Once again, Little Steven\u2019s Disciples of Souls served as the house band, and Bob Santelli, Director of the Bruce Springsteen Center for American Music, served as the host. Just like the first show, Springsteen watched the performances from the audience, and came onstage throughout the night for a series of once-in-a-lifetime duets.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Bruce Springsteen - Jailhouse Rock - Burnin&amp;apos; Love - June 5, 2026, West Long Branch, NJ\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/JZsYL_nR-JE?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tSpringsteen first took the stage to honor Elvis Presley, his original musical hero, with high-energy takes on \u201cJailhouse Rock\u201d and \u201cBurnin\u2019 Love.\u201d \u201cElvis Presley creates a sound and a moment that will forever change not only rock and roll history, because there wasn\u2019t any yet,\u201d Santelli told the crowd, \u201cbut American culture and American music history.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Sheryl Crow - Bruce Springsteen - I Shall Be Released - June 5, 2026\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/D3zTkG11hUk?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tLater in the night, Springsteen joined Sheryl Crow for Bob Dylan\u2019s \u201cI Shall Be Released.\u201d They were backed by guitarist Larry Campbell, who performed that song quite a few times with Dylan when he played in his backing band between 1997 and 2004. This was Springsteen\u2019s first time singing the most famous tune from Dylan\u2019s 1967 <em>Basement Tapes<\/em> sessions. The Holy Trinity of New Jersey rock even got around a single mic at one point, and Flav couldn\u2019t resist joining along. (If you put that man near a stage, he\u2019s going to take it over. It\u2019s basically his purpose on the planet. But played here on the steps over at the big building they have over there.
