The festivities began June 4 in Troutdale, Oregon, when Dylan played the <em>Basement Tapes<\/em> extreme deep cut \u201cBaby, Won\u2019t You Be Me Baby\u201d for the first time since recording it in the basement of Big Pink 59 years ago, continued June 6 in Woodinville, Washington, when he opened the night with the first \u201cYou Ain\u2019t Goin\u2019 Nowhere\u201d since 2012, and then carried on June 9 in Eugene, Oregon, when he stunned fans by closing out the show with his first live take of \u201cI Shall Be Released\u201d since 2008.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Bob Dylan - &amp;apos;I Shall Be Released&amp;apos; - Eugene, Oregon - 9th June 2026 (1st live performance since 2008)\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/FBXQj3mEuJk?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tThere have been four shows so far on Dylan\u2019s Long Hot Summer Tour \u201926, and three of them have featured surprise <em>Basement Tapes <\/em>songs. (On the second night in Woodinville, he didn\u2019t do any Basement Tapes tunes.) If he keeps up this pace at the remaining 31 shows, which is very improbable, we\u2019ll get 23 additional <em>Basement Tapes<\/em> songs.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tThroughout Dylan\u2019s entire live career, he\u2019s only played 10 <em>Basement Tapes<\/em> songs in concert: \u201cMillion Dollar Bash,\u201d \u201cTears of Rage,\u201d \u201cYeah! Heavy and a Bottle of Bread,\u201d \u201cCrash on the Levee (Down in The Flood),\u201d \u201cThis Wheel\u2019s on Fire,\u201d \u201cDon\u2019t Ya Tell Henry,\u201d \u201cQuinn The Eskimo,\u201d \u201cMinstrel Boy,\u201d \u201cI Shall Be Released,\u201d and now \u201cBaby, Won\u2019t You Be My Baby.\u201d It\u2019s very hard to imagine this trend continuing throughout the summer, but anything feels possible in the aftermath of the \u201cBaby, Won\u2019t You Be Me Baby\u201d stunner. (It was, by far, the longest gap he\u2019s ever had between recording a song and debuting it live.)<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tIt\u2019s impossible to get into Dylan\u2019s head and figure out <span style=\"margin: 0px;padding: 0px\">exactly why he\u2019s chosen this moment for a\u00a0<em>Basement Tapes<\/em>\u00a0revival, but there are some recent precedents for setlist themes across<\/span> tour legs. Fadeaway\u201d) that fans began thinking he might be prepping an entire album of Dead covers. But the Dead record never came, and he hasn\u2019t done any of those songs in the past couple of years.
