Thrasher<\/em>, recorded in Nashville, arrives in August and features contributions from Bob Dylan harmonica collaborator Charlie McCoy<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n \n\tWhen Brandon Flowers<\/a> was growing up in Utah, his childhood wasn\u2019t defined only by the rock & roll influences that would come to shape the Killers<\/a>. He also had a father who loved country music, like Johnny Cash and Waylon Jennings. That rootsy, Americana sound often made its way into his band\u2019s music, most recently on their 2021 LP Pressure Machine<\/em><\/a> and 2006\u2019s Sam\u2019s Town<\/em>, but it\u2019s never been the sole artistic focus until now.<\/p>\n \n\tOn Aug. 21, Flowers will release his first solo album in over a decade, Thrasher<\/em>, recorded last July in Nashville at RCA Studio A with contributions from David Rawlings, Bob Dylan collaborator Charlie McCoy, and more. The first single, \u201cPlans,\u201d is out this Friday, June 26.<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cI unlocked a room that I feel that has been waiting for me all along: country western music,\u201d Flowers said in an album trailer<\/a>, which finds him traveling through the desert so foundational to the Killers, clad in western wear. \u201cIt has offered itself to me and the stories I have to tell at the moment with a breezy enthusiasm.\u201d<\/p>\n
