\n\tIn a Nashville Now<\/em> first, Rolling Stone<\/em>\u2019s country music podcast went to Bonnaroo<\/a> for a live episode with the Tedeschi Trucks Band<\/a>. But the interview with the husband-and-wife duo of Susan Tedeschi and Derek Trucks didn\u2019t go quite as planned \u2014 a storm of lightning, wind, and heavy rain forced the evacuation of the festival.<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cFind a grounded structure, either a permanent restroom or a car,\u201d a rep for Bonnaroo and the press tent, where the podcast was being filmed, told the audience of mostly music and journalism students at Belmont University in Nashville and Middle Tennessee State University in nearby Murfreesboro.<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cWe go out of the tent,\u201d Trucks says. \u201cAnd into the trailer,\u201d Tedeschi adds.<\/p>\n \n\tYet the Tedeschi Trucks Band, like Bonnaroo, will not be deterred. After the gates reopened and live music resumed on the stages, the 12-piece group played a blistering set<\/a> on the What stage that highlighted songs off their new album, Future Soul<\/em>. The next day, they joined Rolling Stone<\/em>\u2019s Nashville Now<\/em> in the cabin studio to talk about the performance, the logistics and finances of touring with such a large band, and how the couple first met.<\/p>\n \n\tThere were also Trucks\u2019 recollections of his time playing in the Allman Brothers Band. Despite his uncle Butch Trucks being one of the group\u2019s drummers, alongside the now last living original member Jaimoe<\/a>, Trucks says he still had to audition.<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cI was 19. It was basically, \u2018Don\u2019t screw up this rehearsal and you got it,\u201d he says. \u201cBut you didn\u2019t have the gig until you had the gig.\u201d<\/p>\n
