{"id":67335,"date":"2026-06-25T13:38:34","date_gmt":"2026-06-25T13:38:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/musicianvoice.com\/index.php\/2026\/06\/25\/what-to-expect-from-eternal-live\/"},"modified":"2026-06-25T13:38:34","modified_gmt":"2026-06-25T13:38:34","slug":"what-to-expect-from-eternal-live","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/musicianvoice.com\/index.php\/2026\/06\/25\/what-to-expect-from-eternal-live\/","title":{"rendered":"What to Expect From &#8216;Eternal (Live)&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>A huge\u00a0collection of live performances by <a href=\"https:\/\/ultimateclassicrock.com\/tags\/joy-division\/\" target=\"_blank\">Joy Division<\/a> will be released later this year.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;\"><em><a href=\"https:\/\/joydivision.lnk.to\/JDE\" target=\"_blank\">Eternal (Live)<\/a><\/em>, which comes out on Sept. 25, includes 16 performances across 14 CDs, sourced from audience-recorded cassettes, soundboard tapes and broadcast recordings. The music was mastered at Abbey Road Studios.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The set will also include two DVDs featuring video recordings of the band onstage.<\/p>\n<p>You can hear &#8220;Transmission&#8221; live from Les Bains Douches in Paris on Dec. 18, 1979, below.<\/p>\n<p>Joy Division will be inducted into the <a href=\"https:\/\/ultimateclassicrock.com\/category\/rock-and-roll-hall-of-fame\/\" target=\"_blank\">Rock &amp; Roll Hall of Fame<\/a> in November along with <a href=\"https:\/\/ultimateclassicrock.com\/tags\/new-order\/\" target=\"_blank\">New Order<\/a>, the band they became after singer Ian Curtis&#8217; death in 1980.<\/p>\n<p><strong>READ MORE:\u00a0<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/ultimateclassicrock.com\/top-rock-songs-list\/\" target=\"_blank\">The Top 100 Rock Songs of All Time<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Bassist Peter Hook said he would never play with his old bandmates again, shutting down any speculation that the group would reunite at the Rock Hall induction ceremony on Nov. 14 in Los Angeles.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I haven&#8217;t spoken to Bernard [Sumner, singer and guitarist] for \u2026 I didn&#8217;t even speak to him,&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/ultimateclassicrock.com\/peter-hook-new-order-rock-hall-oasis\/\" target=\"_blank\">Hook told <em>Rolling Stone<\/em><\/a> in April, when 2026&#8217;s class was announced. &#8220;He spoke at me. That&#8217;ll be 15 years. Steve [Morris, drummer] and I spoke about four or five years ago, but that wasn&#8217;t a friendly moment. And I haven&#8217;t spoken to Gillian [Gilbert, keyboardist] in 15 years. So, it doesn\u2019t look good.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;They&#8217;d have to reach out and try and form some kind of relationship. You can&#8217;t just go &#8216;truce for the night&#8217; after what we&#8217;ve been through. If you knew what we&#8217;ve been through, you wouldn&#8217;t even suggest it. That&#8217;s the thing. Nobody knows what you went through.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h3>What&#8217;s on Joy Division&#8217;s &#8216;Eternal (Live)&#8217; Set?<\/h3>\n<p><em>Eternal (Live)<\/em> is being touted as Joy Division&#8217;s &#8220;first official collection of live concert recordings.&#8221;<\/p>\n<div class=\"single-post-image \">\n<figure class=\"img-tag has-sizer v3 alignnone\">\n<div class=\"theframe \" data-loading=\"lazy\"><\/div><figcaption>Warner Music<\/figcaption><span class=\"visually-hidden\">joy division eternal live cover<\/span><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p>The set features two previously unreleased shows and three previously unheard recordings. It also includes their final live performance at Birmingham&#8217;s High Hall in 1980.
