Karina Rykman<\/a> will release her second album, Late Checkout<\/a><\/em>, on September 25th via High Rotation Records, marking the follow-up to her 2023 debut Joyride.\u00a0 In addition, she announced the release of her new single, “Easy, Rider,” which out now and available everywhere.<\/p>\n \u201c\u2018Easy, Rider\u2019 is a summer bop,\u201d says Karina Rykman. \u201cThe propulsive bass line, the reverb-drenched guitar chords, the unbothered vocal vibe\u2026I love this tune.”<\/p>\n Rykman is known for her high-energy live shows and genre-hopping approach to psychedelic indie rock. On Late Checkout<\/em>, Rykman expands on the sound she introduced on Joyride without losing the energy that has defined her music from the start. The 12-track album draws on the chemistry of her touring band and places greater emphasis on storytelling, pairing expansive arrangements with more personal songwriting.<\/p>\n Rykman was born and raised in New York City. She started playing in bands as a teenager and developed a reputation as an exceptional bassist long before her solo career launched. She has appeared on national television programs, including America’s Got Talent<\/em> and NBC’s Today<\/em>, and has performed with pianist Marco Benevento’s band after being recommended by Ween bassist Dave Dreiwitz.<\/p>\n Since releasing Joyride, Rykman has continued to build her audience through touring and festival appearances. She has also performed alongside artists including My Morning Jacket, Khruangbin, Dave Matthews & Tim Reynolds, Tedeschi Trucks Band and Warren Haynes.<\/p>\n Joyride<\/em> helped establish Rykman as a solo artist, and her new project Late Checkout<\/em> finds her building on that incredible momentum. Influenced by years of touring and performing with her live band at a plethora of major music festivals, the album will explore a wider range of sounds while placing greater emphasis on the stories behind the songs.
