\n\tLionel Richie<\/a> has postponed his next two concerts on advice from his doctors after cutting short his concert in St. Paul, Minnesota earlier this week. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cUnder advisement by doctors to rest and return to full health, Lionel Richie has postponed his next two concerts,\u201d a statement from the singer\u2019s team read. \u201cLionel is heartbroken to postpone these two shows and cannot wait to be back performing for his fans.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe impacted shows are Richie\u2019s June 26 gig in Chicago and June 27 in Columbus, Ohio; rescheduled dates were not announced at press time. The singer is expected back on the stage on June 30 in Pittsburgh, the statement added. <\/p>\n

\n\tOn Wednesday night, after performing \u201cThree Times a Lady\u201d in St. Paul \u2014 where Richie opened his co-headlining tour with Earth, Wind & Fire \u2014 saxophonist Dino Soldo told the crowd<\/a> the rest of the concert was canceled. \u201cUnfortunately, Lionel is not feeling well,\u201d he said. \u201cHe won\u2019t be able to continue with the show.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Minnesota Star Tribune<\/em><\/a> reports that Richie, 77, had told the fans he was feeling dizzy and strange, so he performed \u201cDancing on the Ceiling\u201d sitting down. \u201cWhen you\u2019re feeling dizzy, sit your ass down,\u201d he said. After \u201cThree Times a Lady,\u201d which he sang seated at a piano, he said there would be an intermission but did not return to the stage. His backing band remained onstage for around 15 minutes while the audience of 10,000 waited; Soldo\u2019s announcement that Richie wouldn\u2019t be returning came after 40 minutes. Richie was onstage for less than an hour.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe concert was to be the kickoff of a tour for Richie and Earth, Wind, and Fire. The latter group\u2019s John Paris told the Star Tribune <\/em>he believed Richie was \u201ca little dehydrated\u201d and that Richie had seemed normal before the concert. The tour is scheduled to resume in Chicago on Friday.<\/p>\n

\n\tPage Six<\/a> has reported that Richie was hospitalized after the concert. \u201cWe did transport an adult male from the arena last night to a local hospital,\u201d Saint Paul Fire Department PIO Jamie Smith told the gossip sheet. (A rep for Richie did not immediately return Rolling Stone\u2019s <\/em>request for comment.)<\/p>\n

\n\tIn 2020, Richie told Rolling Stone<\/em><\/a> he had no plans to retire. \u201cThey\u2019re gonna have to carry me out, babe,\u201d he said. \u201cSomeone asked me years ago, \u2018When do you plan on retiring?\u2019 And I said, \u2018From what?\u2019 I\u2019ve never had a job. People who work want to retire.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
