Bruce Dickinson<\/a> compared the experiences of being a member of Iron Maiden<\/a> and military service.<\/p>\n The singer reflected on the challenge of being away from his three children as they grew into adults \u2013 and experience shared with those who travel as part of a life in defense<\/span><\/p>\n He was speaking as part of his appearances ahead of the U.K.\u2019s Armed Forces Day<\/a>, which took place on Jun. 27 and presents the annual opportunity to credit people who work in the services.<\/span><\/p>\n READ MORE:<\/strong>\u00a0Iron Maiden Albums Ranked Worst to Best<\/a><\/p>\n \u201cI have three grown-up kids now, who, mercifully, have all ended up as fantastic individuals,\u201d Dickinson told Pad Wives Unfiltered<\/em><\/a>. \u201cAnd I\u2019d love to say it was all down to me \u2013 but for half of their [lives] I was not there, because I was on tour.\u201d<\/p>\n He continued: \u201cPart of me will always regret that. But it\u2019s a price you pay\u2026 and we\u2019re closer now than we ever were. So I think that would be my biggest regret \u2013 the dislocation from what most people perceive to be a normal life.\u201d<\/p>\n That reflection led the 67-year-old to another thought. \u201cHaving a normal life \u2026 I\u2019m not sure you\u2019re any better off \u2026 because that\u2019s full of so many uncertainties.
