Def Leppard<\/a> vocalist Joe Elliott<\/a>\u00a0advised\u00a0fans that some of them will be shocked by the material on the band’s upcoming 13th studio album.<\/p>\n The follow-up to 2022\u2019s Diamond Star Halos<\/em><\/a> is scheduled for release in early 2027, and comes after the band launched lead single \u201cRejoice<\/a>\u201d in February.<\/p>\n In a recent interview with French radio station Oui FM<\/a>, Elliott explained the delay between single and its associated full-length record.<\/p>\n READ MORE:<\/strong>\u00a0All 145 Original Def Leppard Songs Ranked Worst to Best<\/a><\/p>\n \u201cWe released it in time for the Vegas residency<\/a>,\u201d he said. \u201cWe did a Vegas residency in February, and we wanted to play a new song, so it made sense to actually put it out.\u201d<\/p>\n He continued: \u201cThe album won’t be out until early \u201927, \u2018cause we\u2019re still recording it. We were actually recording parts of it in Vegas on days off \u2013 we would go down into the basement of the casino and set it up as a studio\u2026 So we’re still actively recording now, and mixing.\u201d<\/p>\n Elliott said Leppard had accumulated about 18 songs, although not all of them would make the final LP. \u201c[W]e\u2019ve kind of got nearly two albums,\u201d he explained. \u201cWe\u2019re gonna pick and choose which 10 or 11 we think are the right ones\u2026 we’ve got some great songs \u2013 very varied.\u201d<\/p>\n He went on: \u201cI will tell you this much: we\u2019ve written the fastest song we\u2019ve ever done. And we\u2019ve also written the most ridiculously over-the-top, pretentious, massive, big, kind of bombastic song that we\u2019ve ever written too; and lots of stuff in between.<\/p>\n \u201cSo it\u2019s very varied. It\u2019s a very eclectic collection of tunes. A lot of people will be shocked, I think, because of the direction that we\u2019re going in \u2013 \u2018cause it\u2019s not one direction. It\u2019s 10 different directions.
