Sammy Hagar<\/a> delivered his first regular show in the U.K. in 31 years last night (Jul. 6) at Wolverhampton\u2019s Civic Hall.<\/p>\n

The Red Rocker took part in Black Sabbath<\/a>\u2019s Back to the Beginning show<\/a> in 2025. Before that he hadn\u2019t toured in Britain since Van Halen<\/a> went there in 1995<\/a>, opening for Bon Jovi<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The first show on the current leg of his Best of All Worlds road trip \u2013 alongside Michael Anthony<\/a>, Joe Satriani<\/a>, Kenny Aronof<\/a>f and Nathan Mercado \u2013 featured a surprise appearance from former<\/a> drummer Jason Bonham<\/a>, who joined the band to cover Led Zeppelin<\/a>‘s \u201cRock and Roll\u201d at the end of the 20-song show.<\/p>\n

Hagar\u2019s set list included Van Halen’s \u201cBest of Both Worlds,\u201d \u201cWhy Can\u2019t This Be Love\u201d and \u201cRight Now,\u201d among others, along with solo tracks such as “There’s Only One Way to Rock” and \u201cI Can’t Drive 55,” as well as \u201cBad Motor Scooter” from Hagar’s days in Montrose.<\/p>\n

There was also time for Satriani\u2019s \u201cSurfing With the Alien,” and for bassist Michael Anthony to take a turn at the microphone for the Roth-era “Somebody Get Me a Doctor.” The full list, which can be seen below, was similar to his most recent U.S. performance, at National Harbor, MD, on Jun. 27 \u2013 with the exception of Bonham\u2019s guest spot.<\/p>\n

Hagar rearranged his British tour after low sales, and later admitted that was the reason for the change. In June he told TotalRock<\/a> that his experience with Back to the Beginning had felt like a challenge to return to Britain. He explained: \u201cIt wasn\u2019t like, \u2018Sammy Hagar \u2013 yeah!\u2019 It was like, \u2018Okay, let\u2019s see what this guy\u2019s still got.\u2019 So I told my manager the next day\u2026 \u2018I wanna go play the U.K. \u2013 I have to.\u2019 Guilty as charged: we didn\u2019t sell it out.\u201d<\/p>\n

But he talked up the prospect of his upcoming three-night visit to London, comparing it to his recent Las Vegas residency: \u201c[T]he idea of playing three nights, especially in London, where we can do five or six different songs each night\u2026 they\u2019re gonna get a lot.\u201d<\/p>\n
