Mastodon<\/a> will return with their first album in five years\u2014and first since the sudden death of former frontman Brent Hinds<\/a>\u2014on August 28. Marrow Deep<\/em>\u2019s lead single, \u201cSnakes for Dinner,\u201d features a guest turn on vocals from\u00a0Queens of the Stone Age<\/a>\u2019s Josh Homme<\/a>. He also stars in the comedy-horror video, directed by Deathcats<\/a>, below.<\/p>\n Released by Loma Vista<\/a>, Marrow Deep<\/em> is the first album from Mastodon\u2019s new lineup: founders Brann Dailor, Troy Sanders, and Bill Kelliher, plus new guitarist Nick Johnston. Keyboardist Jo\u00e3o Nogueira also contributes. The band co-produced the record with Patrik Berger and Kurt Ballou.<\/p>\n Brent Hinds was killed in a motorcycle crash last August, five months after exiting<\/a> the band. The group returned last month with \u201cYour Ghost Again<\/a>,\u201d on which Sanders and drummer Brann Dailor shared vocal duties. Last week, the band shared a short film<\/a>, The Mastodon in the Room<\/em>, honoring their late bandmate and addressing his departure from the band. Later this year, the band will head out on the Poisonous Weapons Tour, with support from Deafheaven and Alcest.<\/p>\n In a press release, Sanders said of the band\u2019s follow-up to 2021\u2019s Hushed and Grim<\/em><\/a>, \u201cBill, Brann, and myself are thrilled that we still have the opportunity to do this, and we\u2019ve got other members who are just over the moon to be in the band with us. That\u2019s a magical feeling that makes us keep wanting to go to band practice. It\u2019s reminiscent of the very beginning of our band, where all members are hungry, we\u2019re united, and excited to get to work.
