Kinks<\/a> guitarist Dave Davies<\/a> withdrew his support for a recent book about the band after discovering \u201cmisinformation\u201d in the narrative.<\/p>\n He explained that he hadn\u2019t read All Day and All of the Night \u2013 The Day-By-Day Story Pt 1: 1940-1971<\/em>, by Doug Hinman and Andrew Sandoval, when he signed copies for a promotional campaign.<\/p>\n But he said the title was “a beautiful book\u201d\u00a0and expressed hope that the errors he\u2019d identified would be corrected in a later edition.<\/p>\n READ MORE:<\/strong>\u00a0Top 10 Kinks Songs<\/a><\/p>\n \u201cI cannot endorse the new Kinks book by Doug Hinman and Andrew Sandoval because there\u2019s misinformation in it about our early recording sessions,\u201d Davies said via X. \u201cI signed some copies for charity before I had read the errors.\u201d<\/p>\n He later revealed what had upset him about the publication. \u201cAll those f\u2013\u2013n years ago why don\u2019t they leave me alone? That little bit of rhythm guitar on \u2018All day and All [of] the Night\u2019 is Ray<\/a>. Jimmy Page<\/a> did not play rhythm guitar on All day and All [of] the Night.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n He followed that up with: \u201cAnd Jimmy Page did not put distortion on \u2018I Need You\u2019 either. F\u2013\u2013n hell.\u201d<\/p>\n As Davies acknowledged, Led Zeppelin<\/a> guitarist Page was involved in some early Kinks recordings, notably \u201cI\u2019m a Lover Not a Fighter\u201d and \u201cI\u2019ve Been Driving on Bald Mountain.\u201d<\/p>\n All Day and All of the Night \u2013 The Day-By-Day Story<\/em> was originally published in 2004, written solely by Hinman. The new edition from Beatland Books is extended to three volumes, the first of which was published in February and contains 520 pages.<\/p>\n \u201cHinman has teamed with fellow Kinks reissue kompiler, Andrew Sandoval, to expand the contents and dig even deeper to document the group\u2019s creative journey,\u201d the publisher said in a press release.<\/p>\n \u201cYou can expect to find details of heretofore unknown songs, canceled concerts and detailed contemporary reviews from dozens of primary international sources.\u201d<\/p>\n Sandoval, a former member of Dave Davies\u2019 solo band, said he\u2019d invested $100,000 in the collaboration with Hinman. The first volume is on sale<\/a> in three variants at $100, $200 and $350 respectively.
