\n\tLast week, in the middle of Jack White<\/a>\u2019s sold-out show at the Brooklyn Paramount, a five-feet-four-inch bass player got onstage. It was his 20-year-old daughter, Scarlett White, grooving along to \u201cCannon<\/a>,\u201d from the White Stripes<\/a>\u2019 self-titled 1999 debut. She stayed with her dad for two more songs \u2014 the White Stripes<\/a>\u2019 cover of Blind Willie Johnson\u2019s \u201cJohn the Revelator\u201d and \u201cBlack Math,\u201d from the garage rock duo\u2019s 2003 classic Elephant<\/em><\/a> \u2014 with White posting a video<\/a> afterwards like a proud father.<\/p>\n

\n\tScarlett\u2019s surprise appearance is just one of the many highlights of White\u2019s current tour, which kicked off in North America on July 10 and extends through the fall. It\u2019s one of the best rock shows of the year, and he\u2019s proving that at 51, he\u2019s just getting started. Here are seven reasons why you should see him right now.<\/p>\n

\n\t\tHe\u2019s Got a Killer New Album Out\t<\/h3>\n

\n\tWhite has had a career resurgence in the last couple of years, hanging out with famous fans like Olivia Rodrigo<\/a> (who performed at the White Stripes\u2019 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction<\/a> last fall) and Geese frontman Cameron Winter<\/a>, plus giving a standout performance earlier this spring on Saturday Night Live<\/em><\/a> (the host, fittingly, was Jack Black).<\/p>\n

\n\tIn 2024, he released the excellent No Name<\/em><\/a> without warning or track titles, and he followed that up last week with the equally kick-ass Frozen Charlotte<\/em><\/a>. His set list these days usually contains highlights from both records, from \u201cThat\u2019s How I\u2019m Feeling\u201d to \u201cDerecho Demonico<\/a>.\u201d And if that wasn\u2019t enough, a silver Frozen Charlotte<\/em> dancer usually interrupts the set<\/a> until White kicks him off, giving the audience a moment of light comedy.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\t\tSome Tickets Are Just $20 For Students\u00a0\t<\/h3>\n

\n\tJust like he did last year<\/a>, White is selling a limited number<\/a> of tickets to students for just $20. These are available at all of his North American headlining shows, only to be purchased in-person at the venue on the day of the gig \u2014 first come, first serve, in the name of rock.<\/p>\n

\n\tLike Phoebe Bridgers\u2019 recent shows<\/a> and upcoming Lost Tour<\/a>, as well as past shows by Bob Dylan, Madonna, and comedians like Dave Chappelle and Chris Rock, White\u2019s 2026 tour is phone-free. That means that in order to attend, your device needs to be secured in a Yondr pouch, only to be unlocked upon exiting the venue. It might be annoying to not be able to check the time or send some texts out, but it makes for a much more enjoyable concert experience, where you can physically see the stage without a bunch of other people\u2019s blaring screens in your face.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\t\tHe\u2019s Passionate About His Support Acts\t<\/h3>\n

\n\tWhite puts a lot of thought into his shows, from his backing band (drummer Patrick Keeler, keyboardist Bobby Emmett, and Dominic Davis on bass) to his opening acts, posting photos<\/a> with each group afterwards to thank them. New York rock band the Bobby Lees<\/a>, for instance, played thrilling sets prior to White\u2019s shows in Washington D.C. and Brooklyn.<\/p>\n

\n\tHe also goes out of his way to support smaller groups like Twin Temple, the L.A. duo who were recently nixed from Charley Crockett\u2019s tour<\/a> due to their Satanic imagery. As White wrote on Instagram<\/a> with a playful White Stripes pun, \u201cTwin Temple, Would you like to open my show in L.A. on September 29th at the Hollywood Palladium? Let me know. Get in front of me Satan!\u201d In an interview with Rolling Stone<\/em><\/a>, Twin Temple told us they\u2019re trying to make that happen. \u201cI\u2019ve been a White Stripes fan since I was a kid,\u201d said vocalist Alexandra James. \u201c\u2018Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground\u2019 was the first song I learned on guitar. But we do have this date and we have to honor our commitment there. So, we\u2019re trying to work it out.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tWhite\u2019s sets are anything but predictable. He throws curveballs \u2014 take his cover of Dylan\u2019s \u201cHighway 61 Revisited\u201d in Toronto on Tuesday, only his second time playing the Sixties classic since 2012 \u2014 and takes unexpected turns through his wide-ranging catalog. He dips his toes into the music he\u2019s made with the Raconteurs (\u201cSteady As She Goes\u201d) and the Dead Weather (\u201cI Cut Like a Buffalo\u201d). He also digs deep into his solo career, like during his second night in Brooklyn, when he played a semi-rare \u201cMissing Pieces,\u201d the opener of his dynamite 2012 solo debut, Blunderbuss<\/em>. No set is the same, so you never know what you\u2019re going to get.\u00a0<\/p>\n

He regularly pleases the crowd by sprinkling in White Stripes gems like \u201cFell in Love With a Girl,\u201d \u201cHotel Yorba,\u201d and a lengthy \u201cBall and Biscuit,\u201d reminding everyone why he\u2019s one of the greats.
