The Menzingers<\/strong> release new album Everything I Ever Saw<\/em> on July 17 through Epitaph.<\/span><\/p>\n It opens with Chance Encounters.<\/em> It\u2019s a good song and lyrically focuses on intrusive thoughts and feelings and as the title suggests, chance encounters. At times it reminds me of Mayday Parade<\/strong>, just in a lower key. It\u2019s a strong start to the album.<\/span><\/p>\n I love the sarcasm that shines through in the delivery of the chorus to Other People\u2019s Money<\/em>. The dry way the line \u201cain\u2019t it funny taking other people\u2019s money<\/em>\u201d especially with the \u2018La Di da\u2019 that follows. I actively imagine that that\u2019s how some of the money grabbing CEOs of companies etc actually sound.<\/span><\/p>\n Some of the best lyrics come from Gasoline & Matches<\/em>. I think they\u2019re amplified too by the calming instrumentation. There\u2019s also some funky sections of instrumentation in the background every now and again. <\/span><\/p>\n I love the more upbeat guitar line throughout When She Enters My Dreams<\/em> and its focus on being enamoured with someone in your dreams.<\/span><\/p>\n The album has quite a few good hooks throughout it, including in Better Angels<\/em>. I love the blend of emo and pop punk that comes across throughout the album. It mixes some great guitar lines with drum fills and some understated bass lines while Greg Barnett\u2019s<\/strong> hypnotising vocals shine as the vocal point.<\/span><\/p>\n It is a strong album lyrically.<\/span><\/p>\n I thoroughly enjoyed Everything I Ever Saw<\/em> and recommend anyone \u2013 whether a fan of The Menzingers<\/strong> or not \u2013 to check it out. It\u2019s such an easy listen no matter what mood you\u2019re in.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
