Lucky fans on the acclaimed Liverpool tour got the ultimate surprise from the icon this week<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n

\n\tBeatles fans aboard Liverpool\u2019s Magical Mystery Tour \u2014 \u00a0the longest\u2011running sightseeing tour in the U.K. dedicated to the Fab Four \u2014 were astounded this week when Paul McCartney himself pulled up next to them. <\/p>\n

\n\tWhile waiting at a red traffic light, McCartney was spotted in the car next to the tour bus and waved, according to the BBC<\/a>, which first reported the encounter on Monday. The driver and tour guide, Neil Morton, called the surprise cameo \u201csurreal.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tTo sweeten the moment, McCartney leaned out of his window and showed the passengers that he was on a Facetime call with former bandmate Ringo Starr<\/a>. Understandably, \u201cthe passengers could not believe it,\u201d said Morton.<\/p>\n

\n\tOn Instagram, Starr later posted a photo of McCartney taken by Morton during the impromptu appearance. \u201cHow about that for a Magical Mystery Tour in Liverpool? Peace and Love, Ringo,\u201d wrote the drummer in the caption.<\/p>\n

\n\tEarlier this year, the city\u2019s Magical Mystery Tour<\/a> took the top spot in U.K. Tripadvisor\u2019s 2026 Travelers\u2019 Choice Best of the Best Things To Do Awards. The unofficial tour takes fans across Liverpool and explores the Beatles<\/a> formative years through the places that helped shape their careers and inspire their music. Named after the glorious 1967 album, the 2-hour trek takes fans to the Beatles\u2019 childhood homes and schools, Penny Lane, Strawberry Field, and the Cavern Club<\/a>, where the band made their debut on Feb. 9, 1961.<\/p>\n

\n\tMcCartney<\/a>\u00a0and Starr released their first duet together in May, \u201cHome to Us,<\/a>\u201d which features on his splendid LP,\u00a0The Boys of Dungeon Lane<\/a><\/em>. Several songs on the album look back at McCartney\u2019s early years in Liverpool, and its title references a street in the neighborhood where both he and\u00a0George Harrison<\/a>\u00a0grew up.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n
