The self-professed satanists saw their dark star rise earlier this month when country singer Charley Crockett allegedly removed them from his tour because of their use of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-country\/twin-temple-satanic-imagery-charley-crockett-tour-1235591517\/\">\u201csatanic imagery,\u201d <\/a>propelling the husband-and-wife duo into the spotlight and earning them an invitation from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/jack-white\/\" id=\"auto-tag_jack-white\" data-tag=\"jack-white\">Jack White<\/a> to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/jack-white-invites-satanic-band-twin-temple-to-open-1235591970\/\">open one of his shows<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tOn Wednesday, singer Alexandra James and guitarist Zachary James got more return from their presumed deal with the devil when they made their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/late-night-tv\/\" id=\"auto-tag_late-night-tv\" data-tag=\"late-night-tv\">late-night TV<\/a> debut on <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/the-daily-show\/\" id=\"auto-tag_the-daily-show\" data-tag=\"the-daily-show\">The Daily Show<\/a><\/em>. Twin Temple performed \u201cHaunt Me,\u201d off their forthcoming album <em>Doomed Lovers<\/em>, out Oct. 9.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tThe duo took the stage on a church-themed set with upside down crosses and candles, with the initial part of the broadcast appearing in black and white. They explained their inspirations and why they\u2019ve dubbed their music \u201cSatanic doo-wop\u201d (\u201cIt\u2019s just rock \u2018n\u2019 roll, honestly,\u201d Alexandra said). Klepper asked the group about making national news when they were kicked off Crockett\u2019s tour. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\t\u201cWe were pretty shocked,\u201d Zachary replied. \u201cIt was a few days before the shows began.\u201d Alexandra added, \u201cI feel like it\u2019s time for maybe a little more Satanic Panic. When the duo spoke with <em>Rolling Stone<\/em> recently, they were unsure if a nearby date opening for Danzig would prohibit them from saying yes to White. It\u2019s the images that have always resonated with us. For me, growing up a mixed-race woman [of Korean and British descent], first-generation in America, I\u2019ve always felt a little bit like an outsider. And Satan\u2019s the original outlaw, right? He\u2019s a rebel angel. He\u2019s the one who questioned authority, fought for himself, refused to bow down or conform, and was like\u00a0<em>non serviam<\/em>.
