\n\tBuffalo Traffic Jam<\/a> are adapting to overnight success on the fly. The Montana duo are country music<\/a>\u2019s most recent \u2014 and arguably most striking \u2014 example of the power of streaming and social media\u2019s ability to create a career. Barely two years ago, the group\u2019s core members were set to graduate college and enter fields that had nothing to do with music. Since then, their stripped-down folk sound, not as country as Zach Bryan and not as pop as Noah Kahan, has gained mass appeal, and they\u2019ve been selling out shows at every turn. <\/p>\n \n\tNow they just have to figure out what to do next.<\/p>\n \n\tOn Friday, the duo of Nathan Ross and Frankie Cassidy, release their debut album, Pictures of You<\/em>, via Arista Records. It\u2019s a 14-track snapshot of two college friends from Big Sky Country who suddenly find themselves in demand wherever they play.<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cWe decided around October last year that the next step for us was going to be our debut album,\u201d Cassidy tells Rolling Stone<\/em>. \u201cWe were on the road opening for Dylan Gossett<\/a> in Kansas City, and I got a call that my grandma unexpectedly passed away. I went back home to be with my family, and we were looking through these old photos of her. In a way, those pictures told her life story. After that, I had written the title track, \u2018Pictures of You.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tCassidy took it to Ross and they came up with a concept for an album: a record that converts their admittedly surreal life experiences over the last year into a universal tale of perseverance. What they emerged with was a surprisingly emotional debut LP. Love \u2014\u00a0the kind that\u2019s easy to lose when in your early 20s, like Buffalo Traffic Jam and the majority of their fans \u2014\u00a0is a recurring theme. <\/p>\n \n
