New Radicals<\/a>, the legendary one-hit-wonders whose frontman, Gregg Alexander, went on to write \u201cMurder on the Dancefloor,\u201d are back with their first original song since \u201cYou Get What You Give.\u201d The bucket-hatted bandleader wrote \u201cOne Night Only (Break Loose Break Free!)\u201d for the soundtrack to One Night Only<\/em>, a rom-com starring Monica Barbaro and Callum Turner that comes out this week. Check it out below.<\/p>\n New Radicals broke up in 1999, a year after the sensational success of \u201cYou Get What You Give\u201d and the subsequent release of debut album Maybe You\u2019ve Been Brainwashed Too<\/em>, which had some other songs as well. Alexander went on to write and produce hits including the aforementioned Sophie Ellis-Bextor classic, Adam Levine\u2019s Oscar-nominated \u201cLost Stars,\u201d and \u201cGame of Love,\u201d a collaboration between Santana and Michelle Branch that Branch recently rerecorded<\/a> with the New Radicals themselves. The band reunited<\/a> in 2021 to perform at President Biden\u2019s inauguration, and regrouped again in 2024 to record their own version of \u201cMurder on the Dancefloor.\u201d That version was dedicated to second gentleman Doug Emhoff, who had used the song as walk-on music at rallies.<\/p>\n
